The benefits of journaling
There is a growing body of research that supports the benefits of journaling. Here are some findings:
Improved well-being: Daily journaling has been noted to increase well-being and improve emotional regulation. (Burton, et al., 2016)
Increased mindfulness: Mindful journaling showed an increase in mindfulness, self-compassion, and emotional regulation. (Parks-Sheiner, et al., 2017)
Stress reduction: Journaling, can help reduce symptoms of stress, anxiety, and depression. (Goodman, 2018)
Improved memory: Recording thoughts and experiences can help improve recall and reduce intrusive thoughts. (Seitz-Brown et al, 2018)
Meaningful learning: Reflective practice journal helped students to learn and facilitated the acquisition of professional skills and development of values, and improved the self-criticism capacity of students. (Murillo-Llorente MT, et al., 2021)
Enhance problem-solving skills: Reflective Journaling can help improve problem-solving skills and increase creative thinking through stretch thinking. (Yadaav, 2022)
